The chaplains invited for the 2018 season will once again represent intended theological, denominational, gender, racial and ethnic diversity, as well as ministerial context. As always, the Department of Religion’s commitment to diversity in gender, race and theological perspective is clear. The philosophy of the Department of Religion, from the beginning, has embraced and manifested the belief that an expression of these diversities is key to Chautauqua’s future.

Craigie Lectures, University of Calgary
Inaugurated in 1988, this lecture series honours the memory of our colleague and friend, Peter Craigie (d. 1985). Prof. Craigie was a member of the department of Religious Studies, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, and Vice-President (Academic) of the University.
Each year, a distinguished lecturer is invited to address the university and Calgary-area communities on topics from the discipline of Religious Studies.
The lecture series is sponsored by the Faculty of Arts, the Department of Classics and Religion, and the Faith and Spirituality Centre.
